Looking back at SymfonyLive Cologne 2016

Several times a year, the community gathers for one of the SymfonyLive conferences around the world. This year saw the 5th installment in Germany, and unlike the year before, we met in Cologne. Because Berlin will host this year's international SymfonyCon!

Around 300 attendees made their way to Cologne to watch the ten talks on Symfony and its ecosystem. Topics went from Symfony and Doctrine features for advanced developers to case studies.

The conference track took off with the keynote by Christian Schäfer, pointing out tips for selecting potential workplaces. Among others, Bernhard Schussek explained his personal Form Component tricks, Benjamin Eberlei went to talk about writing websocket proxies in Golang, and Kore Nordmann explained ways to analyze code.

Before closing the day with Marco Pivetta's Doctrine "good practices" talk, Christoph Reinartz and Jan van Thor presented highly technical case studies about working with Symfony in large scale enterprise projects.

Before the actual conference, some 80 developers had met for our two days of workshops, presented by developers from the Symfony community.

Saturday saw our traditional hack day, this time at the SensioLabs offices in Cologne, welcoming around 50 developers. People came to talk about Symfony and software in general, and to work on Open Source projects. The focus this time was on Deptrac, a new tool to analyze software architecture metrics released during the conference by the German SensioLabs team.
