Speak at a Symfony conference!

The Call for Papers for SymfonyLive London, SymfonyLive Berlin and SymfonyCon Paris are currently all open! If you ever wanted to speak at a Symfony conference, you have now 3 chances to make your dream comes true.

SymfonyLive London (September 17-18)

Call for Papers will remain open until the 31st of May.

SymfonyLive London, the UK's largest dedicated Symfony event, has launched its call for talk proposals and introduced a mentoring scheme to support speakers. In 2014, over 300 Symfony, PHP and Drupal developers descended on Westminster to hear 12 speakers over two tracks share their thoughts on continuous delivery, eCommerce solutions, front end optimization, and more. Call for papers will be open until 31st May 2015. All proposals must be written in English and will be reviewed by the conference's technical committee.

The prospect of being on stage and talking to 300+ developers, business owners, CTOs and more can be daunting. To support all speakers, regardless of experience, the organizers of SymfonyLive London will be running a mentorship scheme for those who have their talks accepted. Run by experienced international speakers, the scheme will include speaker workshops to help build presentation decks and provide guidance on delivering talks to a large and varied audience.

Also new to SymfonyLive London this year is the chance for the community to nominate speakers for the event. Whether you have seen them speak before or you know someone who you think would fit the SymfonyLive London bill perfectly, you can nominate a speaker here.

Speakers will be provided with up to two nights' accommodation if based outside of London, a contribution towards travel costs, an invitation to an exclusive speakers' dinner before the conference, a full conference pass, plus a dedicated speaker's t-shirt, and food and drinks throughout the event. Submit a talk for SymfonyLive London!

SymfonyLive Berlin (October 13-16)

Call for Papers will remain open until the 31st of July.

SymfonyLive Berlin, the German's largest dedicated Symfony event, has launched its call for papers! CFP is open until July 31st, and keep in mind that you don't have to be a professional speaker to present at SymfonyLive Berlin. In fact, many speakers at our conference are speaking publicly for the first time. What matters is the content that you are going to provide. All proposals must be written in German.

Here are some tips that are important to us in the selection process. For example, submit at least two talks proposals. Why? Actually, we do have to be wary of costs. If you have an amazing talk that we want in the conference program, you will be selected regardless. But if we have the choice between two similar talks, and one speaker only submitted one talk we liked while another submitted two, we are going to choose the speaker who can give two talks as it's more cost effective. Send us as many proposals as you can to increase your chance of selection!

Also, make sure that you are really descriptive on your talk description and your bio. If you just enter a single sentence, it's not enough to cover entirely the topic you want to present. We usually receive a ton of submissions so the clearer your description is, the easier it is for us to select the speakers and make sure we didn't miss out on your great talk!

Finally, all the costs for speaking at SymfonyLive Berlin will be covered by the conference. Submit a talk for SymfonyLive Berlin!

SymfonyCon Paris (December 3-5)

Call for Papers will remain open until the 30th of June.

This year, the SymfonyCon comes back to Paris, its hometown, where we expect more than 1,000 attendees! To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Symfony project, we would like to invite the worldwide Symfony Community to participate in the Call for Papers for this special event. CFP will be open until June 30th. All proposals must be written in English.

For this conference, we are looking for highly technical talks related to Symfony and its ecosystem and original talks that haven't been delivered in previous conferences. For example, we expect talks submissions such as technical real-life use cases of Symfony over theoretical talks, or technical Symfony related talks over generic PHP talks or technical talks about projects closely related to Symfony (Monolog, Doctrine, etc.) over third-party projects... We really want to make this event as unique as possible since Symfony will turn 10 only once!

In this sense, we appreciate and encourage you to send several talks submissions to increase your chances of selection. If you have any idea in mind that you'd like to share at the conference, it's time to submit your talk proposal. Remember that the more descriptive you are in your submission, the better it is for being selected. Descriptions which are only composed of a few words gathered all together is not enough for a good interpretation of the topic you want to present at the conference. Sometimes, you don't have the final line-up of your talk when you submit it but try your best to mention the entire idea you want to expose. It's very important for us, and for you!

As a speaker of SymfonyCon Paris, you'll receive a contribution towards travel costs (amount depends where you come from: Europe or outside Europe), up to 2 nights' accommodation, an invitation to the exclusive speakers' dinner organized before the conference and a free conference ticket. Submit a talk for SymfonyCon Paris!

Best of luck to everyone!
